GACN RECORDS ANOTHER IMPRESSIVE OUTING AT THE 10TH PRACTICAL NIGERIAN CONTENT CONFERENCE

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the annual Practical Nigerian Content conference (PNC) which took place from 29th November to 2nd December 2021 in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The theme of the conference was “Driving Nigerian Content in the new dawn of the Petroleum Industry Act”.

The conference was declared open by His Excellency, Douye Diri, Executive Governor, Bayelsa State which was preceded by a keynote address from Engr. Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary, NCDMB. The conference also featured various panel discussions which featured notable Speakers and Stakeholders in the Oil & Gas industry.

In a similar vein, the MD GACN participated in the panel discussion on “Harnessing Local Content opportunities for indigenous companies in Nigeria’s Decade of Gas”

During the earlier mentioned panel discussion, the GED Gas and Power NNPC, Mallam Abdulkabir Ahmed enumerated several steps to ensure optimization of opportunities in the Gas sector as well as growth of the Sector. The MD, GACN Mr Olalekan Ogunleye traced the growth trajectory to the National Gas Supply and Pricing Regulation, 2008. He noted that the Regulation targets to drive gas commercialization within the domestic market, in the pursuit of national economic growth. He also stated that indeed this was the perfect time for the business community to invest in Gas development given the prioritization of Gas for economic growth by the FGN, MPR, NNPC & NCDMB etc. He concluded that the Federal Government and NNPC have provided the enabling environment for any type of Gas investment, whether large or small and the commerciality of such opportunities will unlock financing.

GACN to renovate Lokogoma’s primary health care centre

As part of its social investment efforts to promote quality and affordable services in the health sector, the Gas Aggregation Company of Nigeria (GACN) is set to renovate Damangaza primary health care centre in Lokogoma, Abuja.

Speaking at the official kick-off of the rehabilitation work on Friday, the Managing Director of GACN, Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye said the company would assist with bed and other basic hospital equipment.

“By the grace of God and by the help of God, within two weeks, the whole place will look different. We hope and aspire that it is not going to be a one-off exercise. Hopefully, next year we would be following it up to continue to see how the hospital is fairing.”

He charged other companies to emulate the intervention, noting: “If we construct a society that is working for just a few, it will never work for everyone.”

In his remarks, the project consultant, Emmanuel Bako said they would put in place basic equipment in the labour rooms to reduce maternal and child mortality.

In his address, Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido, represented by the council’s Supervisory Councillor for Health, Hon. Binta Dahiru said there are a lot of other communities within the city centre in need of improved primary health care.

“AMAC cannot do it all alone. That is the reason we need more of this kind of assistance,” he said.

The Doctor in charge of the hospital, Adams Jacob said, “We wrote so many letters to the area council, but nothing was done, but not even up to two weeks after these people started coming, this project kicked off.”

The Etsu of Damangaza, James Budebo said they had been abandoned for a long time before the intervention of the GACN.
